Despite other elements of our lives being impacted by COVID19, it is still important for us to be able to continue to assist you to progress your family law matter, and we have the contingencies in place to support you and our team to do so. The Phillips Family Law team have processes and procedures in place to allow our team to work remotely when required to enable us to continue to provide you with a high level of client service.

To ensure the care of both our clients and our team, we will be minimising physical in office meetings by making best use of technology. We recommend that meetings are done so via phone or video conferencing and our team have the processes in place to arrange this for you.

Moving forward, when making contact with Phillips Family Law we kindly ask that you:

Use phone and/or email as your first point of contact with us;

Let us know if you have left hotel quarantine in the last 14 days, and/or have been in contact with anyone who has been in hotel quarantine in the last 14 days or is unwell;

Let us know if you have travelled within a government declared COVID-19 hotspot within 14 days, and/or been in contact with anyone who has travelled within a government declared COVID-19 hotspot within 14 days; and

Let us know if you become unwell within 14 days of having been in our office.

Imagine waking up one day to find out the marriage you had cherished for years wasn’t what it seemed to be - and without going into too much detail there are really only two options: 1) Stay in a broken marriage that would never be the same. 2) Go down the path of separation and divorce and with that brings many questions… Where do you go? Who do you trust? And who can help? I chose the latter and I was a one of the lucky ones – I contacted Tony Phillips from Philips Family Law. As my world was falling down around me I heard the calm voice of Tony Phillips at the end of the phone say “I’m so sorry for your circumstances but I’m here to help” From that moment on I knew whatever happened I would be Ok…..and a lot happened!!! From navigating the custody and needs of 5 young children to going to trial to sort out the myriad of financial games that were being played. From non-disclosure to forensic accountants I felt I would eventually go to trial and along the way the team at Phillips Family Law (especially Sophie Norman and Olivia Phillips) ALWAYS had my best interest at heart (even when I was being highly emotional and the process seemed all encompassing and overwhelming). Their tenacity, thoughtfulness, attention to detail and understanding of the circumstances were beyond anything I had ever seen before. But it was so much more than legal advice – It was pointing me in the right direction when I asked “I need to change my will, who should I call?’, “I need help with financial understanding, where should I go?, “ The children need a psychologist – who is the best to help me there?”, “I need a barrister ‘ who do you recommend?” .The team at PFL walked me through the entire process with professional advice and a caring concern that made the journey of separation not a lonely one.

As an Associate, Sophie works closely with Managing Director, Tony Phillips and Special Counsel, Olivia Phillips.

Having worked exclusively in the area of family law since her admission to the profession as a lawyer in 2019, Sophie has a genuine enthusiasm and passion for family law, demonstrated by her highly motivated approach and her consistently positive outlook to her work.

Being innately organised, Sophie enjoys managing all of the variables, aligning and rearranging them in the most effective way possible. She has a particular interest in complex and high net worth property settlements and those involving third parties. Sophie is friendly and is always dedicated to ensuring that the needs of the people that we advise, care for and guide are always forefront.

A constant learner, Sophie completed a double degree in Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts majoring in International Relations and Public Relations prior to completing her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice and admission to the profession.

Outside of work, Sophie enjoys health and wellness, including doing high intensity and group fitness training, Pilates and spending time at the beach with friends, family and her chocolate spoodle, Monte.
