An Accredited Family Law Specialist, Special Counsel of the firm, and having practiced exclusively in family law for over 15 years, Belinda is disciplined family lawyer skilled at taking a pragmatic and holistic approach for her clients. As an instinctive problem solver, Belinda is always analysing the issues at hand to find the best possible solutions for her clients. A key characteristic of Belinda’s approach is to listen to and identify the underlying goals of her clients early, so that she can steer them towards solutions and avoid unnecessary confrontation by looking for areas of common ground.
Belinda began her legal career as a graduate and then junior solicitor in a regional law firm in Mackay, and later as a solicitor in a national mid-tier law firm in Brisbane. In 2021 she obtained her specialist accreditation, as a true testament to her knowledge and expertise in dealing with a diverse range of family law matters, including children of separated couples, separation, divorce, child support, and property settlements.
With experience across all facets of family law, Belinda has a particular interest in parenting matters, including those involving grandparents. Belinda is dedicated to her ongoing professional learning and continues to broaden her research and depth of knowledge in family law, as well as complimentary other areas of law which may intersect.
Belinda considers it a privilege to assist, care and guide people through relationship breakdown, recognizing that it can be an inherently challenging time. She finds great reward in helping people to take the right steps to allow them to move forward with confidence. Belinda always aims to provide practical, honest, and realistic advice with a focus on cost effective settlements. When necessary, Belinda draws upon her professional network to connect clients with other experts who can provide additional advice and support to her client’s during their matter.
With a strong community focus, Belinda is a current volunteer at Women’s Legal Service in Brisbane and has been associated with them for over 10 years. Previously, she has been a volunteer mentor for the Women Lawyers Association of Queensland’s Ladder Program and involved in their steering committee. Her commitment to the broader community also saw her volunteer at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Belinda has been nominated by her peers in the profession as a recommended Parenting & Children’s matters lawyer in Queensland, 2023 in the Doyle’s guide.
Outside of work, Belinda enjoys travelling, catching up with family and friends over good food & wine and going to the theatre. She maintains balance of a busy work life by keeping physically active through boxing and Pilates
