Last year Tony, Fiona Caulley and Olivia Phillips and the rest of our team, along with colleagues and friends celebrated 10 years since Phillips Family Law opened its doors for the first time. That evening, Tony reflected on the journey so far, including his years as a lawyer and Managing Director of Murdoch Lawyers in both Toowoomba and Brisbane before opening Phillips Family Law. Others also shared their stories and insights into their experiences of working alongside Tony as well as those on the opposing side of matters.
When speaking of Tony, his colleagues, peers and clients speak of his level-headed and calm approach. Tony is known for being approachable, being a skilled negotiator with an extensive knowledge and skill set. Perhaps best summed up in this feedback from a past client, “I appreciate Tony’s measured, level-headed and calm approach. He is a realist who ensures clients are cared for at every step of the process.”

Over his forty years of practice, Tony has seen the significant changes to the Family Law system and how it has evolved and to date he has helped thousands of people whose lives are impacted by a relationship ending. His broad knowledge of complex financial structures, international family law and the sensitivities of family law matters are extensive. That knowledge, wisdom and calm approach carries through across the firm.

In addition to his many accolades, Tony’s greatest skill is as a mentor. Tony’s approach to leadership has always been leading by example. He has created an environment where employees are happy to come to work and are equipped with the broad skill set required to excel and be an effective lawyer. Tony is selfless with his time and takes great pride in helping staff develop their skills. As colleagues, we all benefit from continuing to watch someone operate at the top of their game.
