Gareth is a family lawyer who has over four years’ experience advising, caring for and guiding people experiencing relationship breakdown.
Gareth’s broad experience and skill set means he is well appraised of the court processes as he has had the unique experience of working as an Associate to Judge of the Federal Circuit Court, within a boutique family law firm and also in the community legal sector.
With advocacy experience beyond his years, he has honed his skills to quickly identify the legal issues of a dispute and provide practical legal advice.
Gareth has a particular interest in financial matters and he provides considered, consistent and practical advice to his clients, working closely with both of the firms’ directors, Tony Phillips and Fiona Caulley.
He also has considerable experience in parenting matters, with a particular interest in assisting parents to communicate amicably and respectfully and has a deep understanding of the issues faced by people who have experienced domestic violence.
Always calm under pressure, Gareth is strategic and measured in his approach to problem solving. He has an innate sense to try to find common ground and is able to assist people to steer them away from confrontation and toward resolution.
Wherever appropriate he assists to advance the interests of the people he assists by adopting a collaborative and holistic approach to the issues they are encountering.
With a strong focus on community service, Gareth has a considerable history of and continues to volunteer his expertise in the community legal sector. Gareth also sits on the Queensland Law Society’s Domestic and Family Violence Committee.
Outside of work Gareth is a keen runner and cyclist who likes to challenge himself by competing in marathons and triathlons.
