Phillip Ridgway, Associate

Phillip has been providing clients with timely, considered advice and peace of mind in family law matters since his admission, having practiced exclusively in boutique family law firms since that time.

Phillip provides his clients with the assurance and results that only comes with the attention to detail, diligence and care that his clients respect.

Drawn to family law by the subtleties and nuances of parenting matters, Phillip has a keen interest in the impact of inter-personal dynamics and underlying emotional motivators on parties’ positions in parenting matters. Phillip enjoys taking a holistic approach to his parenting matters through his work with experts from other fields including social workers, psychologists, and psychiatrists to achieve the optimal outcome for his clients. Phillip assists parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles in both parenting matters and child protection matters, and is well versed in the intersection of the two areas.

With a dual degree in laws and business, Phillip has developed a keen appreciation for financial matters, including property settlement and spousal maintenance matters, and financial agreements. With a keen eye for detail and a quick ability to understand financial reports and valuations, Phillip ensures that no stone is left unturned. Phillip enjoys working with practitioners from other disciplines to achieve the best outcome for his clients, including accountants and financial planners. Phillip has a particular interest in assisting business owners to tackle their property settlements and asset protection strategies.

Taking an empathetic but level-headed approach to his matters, Phillip assists his clients to sort through the minutiae and refocus client’s on the important issues at hand. His approach to both financial and parenting matters enables his clients to focus on the bigger picture and get on with living their lives.

Phillip is also a Consultant Author for CCH, a current committee member and immediate past Vice President of Queensland Young Lawyers. In his spare time Phillip regularly volunteers at Caxton Legal, providing pro bono legal advice to the less fortunate, and through the Group61 program run by the Wesley Mission.
